MY STORY

Part 5:

I read a book that opened my eyes even further about eating whole, natural foods to nourish my body. The book was “Master Your Metabolism” by Jillian Michaels. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to change their life and their bodies. I shared her recommendations to everyone I met because it was such a game changer for me. The big takeaway I got from her book was, “If it didn’t have a momma or it didn’t come from the earth, you do not eat it.”

As Jillian recommended, I went through my cupboards and fridge and threw out every thing that did not fit this criteria. Again, was I perfect? No way. But I was making progress.

Another thing I had to do to get my mind set right was throw away the bathroom scales. They made me crazy. If I climbed on and had lost a pound or two, that was a green light to eat. If I gained a pound or two, I starved or worked out to much. Your water and fluids in your body fluctuate daily depending on what is going on in your body. Also, muscle weighs more than fat. I had to learn how to go by how my clothes fit rather than the scales.

This was my new found way of life. I strived to eat clean and do a work out of some sort every day. But I still liked my sugar. I consumed far to much. But at the time I was not ready to give it up.

I read several more books and began implementing the recommended changes into my life. A big change I made was getting rid of my beloved homemade bread with butter and honey. I read a book by Dr. William Davis, “Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight. What an awesome book! After reading this book and learning just how inflammatory wheat and grains were for a person’s health, I began eliminating wheat and grains from my diet. Again, not perfect but making progress.

Whenever you implement changes into your life, you are going to make mistakes. You never give up! Forgive yourself and move on. Whenever I trash talk myself, I stop right now and be positive in my words and actions toward myself. I learned a mantra and I use it all of the time. It is “I love and accept myself, Tina.” Try it! It works.
